how to do Final Year Project for degree student
Assalamualaikum and hello
Before you want to decide which supervisor(SV) is suitable to work with you, you must ask senior how well the SV could cooperate with you. This is very important!! If you are the person who are dependable, can do under minimal supervision then you wont mind if the SV is someone very busy. If you are someone who need constant supervision from SV then better choose the meticulous one.
After got deal with SV and sign agreement as her/his final year student, you must get all document related to instrument or laboratory equipment usage.
Make sure to:
1-Find jurnal related to your project. Sketch for experimental procedure to estimate what kind of apparatus and chemical will be used and how much the quantity since your are experimenting. You could use some beaker/test tube/others as control.
2- Apply for apparatus and chemical needed for your project. You need to order the chemical early if your SV dont have it. Of course through your SV or your SV's master student.
At this rate, you have to know what kind of instrument/ machine you will use as analysis. You have to book the date if those instrument are popular since you have to compete with some other student either from your own faculty or much worse, other faculties.
3- Clean your apparatus with decon or any related one also can. Wash it. Some project need the apparatus to be soaked in HCl after decon. Then washed with water then rinse distilled water. If your project is involving heavy metal or ion, you should rinse with deionised water(be save because it is very expensive).
4-Then dried your apparatus in dryer/oven
5-Prepare for your proposal writing and presentation.
